According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in November 2012 Turkey's total wire rod exports amounted to 54,927 metric tons, down 31.7 percent month on month, following three months of month-on-month increase, and down 30.3 percent compared to November 2011. In November, the revenue generated by Turkey's wire rod exports totaled $33 million, decreasing by 34.1 percent month on month, and down 41.5 percent from November 2011.

In the first 11 months of last year, Turkey's wire rod exports amounted to 834,670 metric tons, decreasing by 17.4 percent compared to the same period of 2011, while the total revenue from these exports amounted to $537 million, decreasing by 23 percent as compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.

In November, Turkey's wire exports to the Middle East fell for the third month in a row on month-on-month basis, amounting to 9,189 mt, decreasing by 29.7 percent compared to October and down 0.3 percent on year-on-year basis. The country's wire exports to the Middle East had reached historically high levels in the second and third quarters of this year. On the other hand, the US, Brazil and Libya were the three largest export destinations for Turkish wire rods in January-November 2012, while exports to the US and Brazil fell significantly in November, though Turkish wire rod exports to Libya increased in the given month.
